Paul is a violin maker based in the Limousin region of central France. He makes individually crafted instruments in the classical tradition of Cremona, following the great masters of the craft: Stradivari, Amati and Guarneri.
He is passionate about his work and strives to make his own contribution to the sum of knowledge so that musicians of today and tomorrow will benefit.
He constantly strives to produce high-quality instruments that come as close as possible to the perfection of certain Stradivarius masterpieces, which he has worked on and knows well.
His research into the links between manufacturing techniques and sound has led him to collaborate regularly with scientists and researchers, notably Claudia Fritz (a researcher at the CNRS), with whom he has carried out a number of projects.
Achieving technical excellence in manufacturing is not enough to make a good luthier. It also takes a great deal of listening and sensitivity on the part of Paul Noulet to organise the perfect encounter between the instrument and the musician.
Paul Noulet’s art and expertise lie in ensuring that the conditions for this osmosis are met in his creations.
